Ingredients
- 8 plain beef or lamb sausages
- 1 onion
- 1 green apple (Granny Smith are the best for this)
- 1 cup of water
- 2 teaspoons of soy sauce
- 4 tablespoons of tomato paste
- 4 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoon of mustard
- 2 tablespoon brown sugar
Method
- Into a mixing bowl put the brown sugar, mustard, worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and water and mix it together well. Put the bowl aside for later use.
- Before you begin cooking anything you should also slice up your onion and apple. Cut the onion into slices about 1cm (½ inch) thick. Remove the core from the apple and slice that into 1cm (½ inch) thick slices too, cut the apple slices in half vertically so they are in a ‘half-moon’ shape. (Hope that makes sense).
- Heat up a small amount of oil in a large frying pan and start cooking your sausages. Roll them around a bit to make sure they cook evenly. Once they are lightly cooked remove them from the saucepan and cut them into bite sized pieces, put them aside.
- Now add the sliced onion to the frying pan and cook until it starts to turn golden and soft, this should take about 2- 3 minutes.
- Add your bite-sized sausage bits, apple slices and the sauce mixture and bring it to a simmer. Cook for a further 5 minutes while stirring.
- Have a cheeky taste and add salt and pepper if desired/required.
- Serve.
